Top Webcomics

I was discussing webcomics with a new friend on Facebook, when he asked me what some of my favorite are. I thought I would share that here as well. I read too many webcomics, but these are some of the top.

These might offend you – so click at your own risk. Alternatively, these might bore you – so click at your own risk. Seriously, at your own risk.

Bizarro, Diesel Sweeties, Evil Inc., Least I Could Do, PVP, Rip Haywire, Sheldon, Sinfest, SuperFogeys,Weapon Brown, xkcd.

This is by no means a complete list of what I read, just some of the top ones.

DAR, inkdick, Looks Like Rain, are all journal comics that I would recommend.

Facebook Fan Page

facebook fan page

At the suggestion of another artist, I started a Facebook fan page for Kidd and Geezer. So go join and tell all your Facebook friends to join too!

I get on Facebook too much already and play various games and whatnot. So it seemed like a good idea. The link on the left sidebar will take you to the fan page and the link in the footer will take you to my personal Facebook page.

A Nickel’s Worth

Eek!Scott Nickel is the creator of the comic strip Eek! and Little Otto both of which can be found on GoComics. He also works for Jim Davis – Garfield.

So I would assume he knows comics. On his blog – A Nickel’s Worth – Scott has recently started “20 Questions”  where he interviews various “cartoonists from syndication, comic books, and gag cartooning in a fun 20-questions format”.

It’s been interesting so far and I can’t wait to see who else he gets to interview.

Anders Loves Maria

almRene Engström’s comic “anders loves maria” is sometimes difficult to follow. Basically Anders and Maria are going to be parents.

The problem seems to be that Anders sleeps with anyone and everyone. The drawing seems quirky sometimes, but so is the story I guess. Overall, it works well. There’s some language and nudity.

It’s an interesting read.

Check Out Caroline in the City

citcS1I bought the first season of this show yesterday. It’s about a cartoonist in New York city whose does a semi-autobiographical strip called ‘Caroline in the City’.

She has to hire a colorist and he is the ‘moody arteest’ who despises cartoons and having to work on one. Her on/off boyfriend runs a greeting card company that produces the Caroline cards and is so full of himself that his giant head plus all that hair can barely get in the door. Her neighbor across the hall is a dancer in ‘Cats’ and seems intent to dance between the sheets with any man willing. Caroline herself is so sweet that you can get a cavity.

I love it. The characters are pretty well defined from the beginning of the of the series. They all play well off of each other and keeps me laughing through out the episodes. At least in the first season.

I assume the other seasons are on DVD as well and I would like to get them too. If I remember correctly from when the series originally aired, it didn’t end well. Either way this first season is a gem.
