The Daily Comics Review normally focuses on newspaper comics, but they made a recent post about a handful of webcomics.

For some weird reason they included KiDDandGEEZER and said some nice things too. Now, I will love them for always and forever… <3 <3 <3

Check It Out

URBAN JUNGLE centers around Zack — the only human in an office full of animals. Literally. Zack was raised by wolves and now works in software development. Sometimes he’s in the office with his co-workers and sometimes he’s at home with his roommate pet. His pet pug thinks he can be a roommate even though he doesn’t pay rent.

This comic is alot of fun even though David allowed me to do a guest strip last week. David is finally moving to the Great State of Texas — because someone has to fill void when Scott Kurtz leaves. Since David needed time packing and such he let me and a few other guys take a shot at his animals. You can skip the one that I did and go read the rest of them.

One of the co-hosts is my buddy Chris Flick of CAPES N BABES a webcomic that I’ve mentioned before here and here. He also let me use one of his characters in this strip. At the end of the podcast they like to give a recommendation to different webcomics that they like. Chris gave me a shoutout on the episode titled: Guest Strips, Merchandise, and Erasers, Oh My!

Hermit Hill by Nate Bramble has something in common with my comic… an old geezer.

This particular geezer is Walter Gregorian. He is anti-social and suffers from panic attacks if he tries to leave his hill. So the only time he interacts with people is if they come to him. And they do. Constantly. The local delivery boy girl is always coming by with a delivery of some sort. Salesmen. Gnomes. Other eccentrics. It’s almost like a one hill circus.

I was able to meet Nate earlier this year at STAPLE! and got a photo of him to prove it. I probably should have waited until he looked up. Anyway, it’s a fun comic.

When Garfield the cat is removed from the strip that leaves you all alone with Jon Arbuckle. Without another character to play off, Jon seems like he should be in a mental facility. It’s very weird and quite funny.

One might expect Jim Davis to be a bit unhappy with someone infringing on his copyright. Quite the opposite. Jim seems to get a chuckle from the comic strip and even allowed a book to be printed. I think part of this is because Dan never tried to claim it as original, and always gave credit to Davis. GARFIELD MINUS GARFIELD is sorta like fan fiction or fan art. Now it has it’s own fans.

EARTH vs PLUTO, by Adam Huber, covers what happens after the Plutonians conquer the Earth. They have to explain it to the Earthlings who don’t seem to understand the concept of being a conquered planet.

It looks like a fairly new strip that has been around for a couple of months. I only found this comicstrip last month so I’m still getting familiar with it myself. Adam is still experimenting with the strip a little – tweaking it here and there. I think it has potential and once he hits his stride it’s going to be alot of fun.He still needs to tweak the site a little too – get an about page and stuff like that, but all in good time.

Dan is a sooper-hero of some kind. The world’s greatest to be exact. Dan is also a bit of a bumbling sooper-hero.

Pete is his roomate. Pete is often the victim of Dan’s bumblings. Pete is not a sooper-hero.

Dan and Pete is done by Gavin Aung Than. You can see he grew up watching lots of cartoons. Real cartoons. Not these modern flashing things they pretend is animation.You can see the inluence in his exagerated drawings when Dan is going into action.

Dan also wear glasses it looks like. I’m not sure if we’ve ever seen Dan without his costume. He might take off his glasses and then we would never recoginize him.

The comic only updates once a week which is a shame because it’s alot of fun.

A comic book shop. A werewolf who dates a vampire. A female handyman. A hippie businessman. A comic book geek. What the heck?! This is Capes -N- Babes.

Chris Flick updates every M-W-F with a funny black/white strip that uses color once in a while. He has plenty of comic book references for us comic book geeks and plenty of non-comic book jokes for all you comic book slackers.

He also does another strip at Community MX. He is also a caricature artist. He is also a graphic designing computer sorcerer type guy.

Dan Piraro does a seriously silly comic. ‘Bizarro‘ is a syndicated newspaper comic so you might find it there, but I found it online and read it at BizarroBlog. It has nothing to do with Superman!

He always post some commentary with each comic. Within the commentary you can always find links to something, something… Well, it’s something that Dan thinks is worth linking to. It’s hard to explain.

The comic is well drawn, the humor is outrageous, and the secret items don’t make sense. He likes to include things like a slice of pie, an alien spaceship, or maybe a stick of dynamite in the comics. And they work just fine, I have never found the secret items too weird, distracting, or out of place. It just works.
